“We have a visible flame formation of 300 meters. It is also difficult to estimate whether we can get the fire under control today,” said fire brigade inspector Konrad Müller to ORF Tirol. He does not assume that “Brand Aus” can still be given on Sunday. Five firefighting helicopters have been flying over the area since Sunday morning. Around 35 hectares are still affected.
On Saturday, a firefighter had to be admitted to the Reutte district hospital with suspected smoke poisoning. The fire broke out near the German state border northeast of Unterpinswang. The extinguishing work is difficult because the fire is raging in the steep and rocky terrain.
