Bauhoftheater flashed off at the FPÖ

The Bauhoftheater in Braunau invites you to the cultural summer in the district capital again this year. From July 8th to August 6th, 24 events take place, in the past few years around 3500 visitors have been counted. The heart of the cultural summer this time is the play “Lysistrata” by the Greek comedy poet Aristophanes. The performance will be on the church square in the city center, and experienced amateurs and professional actors will perform again.

Fred Hermann, VP culture committee chairman in Braunau, made the request at the most recent municipal council meeting that the cultural summer be financially supported again. “This created a leading cultural event for the city,” he emphasized. The Bauhoftheater should receive non-cash benefits of around 3,500 euros and a cash grant of 12,000 euros for the Braunau cultural summer.

The FPÖ decided it was too much. “The cash funding has increased by 34 percent compared to previous years. But then the association always says that you work on a voluntary basis,” said FP parliamentary group leader Christian Bachinger and announced that his party would not vote. For the SPÖ it was completely incomprehensible: “These are 24 high-quality events that bring a lot of frequency to the city center. They cost us 645 euros per event, which should be worth it to us,” said SP parliamentary group leader Günter Mikula. The VP and the Greens also saw things the same way, which is why the support was accepted by a majority despite the FPÖ abstaining from voting.

The regulations for the after-school care center, which, as reported, will in future be run under the sponsorship of Kinderfreunde, were also unanimously approved. “I hope this is a good solution to the personnel problem,” said Education Committee Chairman Matthias Kritzinger (VP). Investment support for the “Union Vaulting and Riding Club Braunau” was also decided. This builds a new equestrian and vaulting facility in the valley and receives an investment grant of 33 percent, capped at 400,000 euros.

During the citizens’ question time, VP Mayor Hannes Waidbacher announced on request that a plot of land for a biomass plant was being sought. A 30 km/h zone in Jahnstrasse was also required.
