One year of daffodil sovereignty: “I enjoyed every moment”

Being a queen or princess at the Daffodil Festival once in a lifetime: “It’s the dream of almost every girl from the Ausseerland,” says Katharina Raich from Altaussee, who will take over as Daffodil Princess of the Year 2021 today and tomorrow. Then she passes this task on to the new Daffodil Highnesses with Daffodil Queen Petra Ladreiter and Daffodil Princess Simone Wiesauer.

Together, the three look back on an eventful and unusual year. “The best thing is certainly that the three of us got to know each other and that’s how a great friendship developed,” say the three Highnesses.

Due to the corona, they were only rarely able to fulfill their task of representing the Ausseerland at events and performances. “Many events could not take place, but it was still a great honor and I enjoyed every single moment,” says Petra Ladreiter, Queen of the Narcissus.

Delivery of the daffodil crown

Tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. the official opening of Austria’s largest flower festival will take place in the Kur- und Kongresshaus Bad Aussee with the coronation evening of the new Daffodil Highnesses of the year 2022. “We didn’t have such a coronation evening last year. With us, everything mainly took place in a small circle, and we also shot many videos for the online platforms. Now I’m looking forward to passing the crown on to the next daffodil highnesses. That’s a moment , which the three will certainly never forget,” says Ladreiter.

What can the three Daffodils of 2021 pass on to their successors? “The most important thing is to remain authentic and true to yourself. Then everything will run by itself. And above all, enjoy this time – from the set to the photo shoots and interviews to the performances at the Narcissus Festival. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a queen or a Princess: You make a lot of contacts during this time and can be proud to represent the Ausseerland.”

Information on the 62nd Narcissus Festival:

Austria’s largest flower festival in the Ausseerland begins with the coronation evening of the Highnesses on May 26th. Other highlights are the children’s May Dance on Friday and the Narcissus Night in Bad Aussee.
