The dead woman was discovered in her apartment on Monday evening. The son has since disappeared. The family called the police after the Syrian woman failed to get in touch. After the apartment was opened, no crime was initially recognizable, only an autopsy brought clarity on Tuesday.
For the police, the son is now an urgent suspect. Most recently he may have stayed in Graz. According to a spokesman, the man is already known to the police. He was born on January 1, 1998 in Syria. He is 1.78 meters tall, has brown eyes and most recently wore dark, short-cropped hair. For several years he lived with his mother in Leibnitz. He had a beard until recently, but according to the latest findings it has been shaved off. Most recently, he is said to have worn a three-day beard. The fugitive is described as quite ready to use violence. There was currently no concrete evidence of an armament or a possible getaway vehicle.
The police are asking for information about the person or the whereabouts of the LKA Styria on 059133/60-3333 or to lpd-st-landeskriminalamt@polizei.gv.at. If you see the fleeing person, you should not speak to him and call the emergency number 133 or 112 immediately, the state police said.
The son lived with the mother in a common household, the contact with other family members should have been close, the APA said. After the woman stopped answering the phone on Monday and her son couldn’t be reached either, a relative went to the apartment in an apartment building, but no one opened it.
The police had the apartment opened, and a doctor could then only determine the death of the 41-year-old Syrian. Police officers from Leibnitz then took up the investigation. A clear cause of death could not be determined for the time being. The public prosecutor’s office in Graz ordered an autopsy, which brought evidence of a violent crime. Murder investigators from the Styrian Criminal Police Office took over the investigation.
