The 36-year-old farmer was busy working on his farm with his 73-year-old father at around 9.45 a.m. The son used the front loader of his tractor to lift a feeding auger, which was attached with an iron chain, to the silos. His father was standing in front of the tractor at this point. Suddenly the iron chain slipped off the front loader and the feeding auger, which weighed more than a hundred kilos, fell on the father’s head from a height of around one and a half meters.
The man was injured to an unspecified degree, he had a profusely bleeding wound on his head. As a precaution, the Europa 3 rescue helicopter was also requested. After the first aid by the emergency doctor, however, it was decided to take the injured person to the hospital in Wels by ambulance. The helicopter was able to fly back.
