Austria’s oldest young breeders’ club celebrates its 30s with 1,000 guests

The young breeders of the Simmental Breeding Association Inn- and Hausruckviertel (FIH) put their hearts into it with a night show in the auction hall in Ried to mark their 30th anniversary – almost 1,000 visitors followed the invitation of the “oldest” young breeders’ club in Austria.

The efforts of the committed team under chairman Alex Hörmandinger met with great approval, guests from all over Austria, neighboring Bavaria and even from South Tyrol came to Ried. 63 young breeders took part in a demonstration and type competition with their animals. In the Junior age group, 14-year-old Johanna Bogner won the demonstration competition ahead of Clara Ecker, both students from the Otterbach technical school.

Andreas Strobl from Wippenham won the type competition for heifers with his “Wrangler daughter” Liane – ahead of Mathias Penn from Eberschwang with his “Spartacus daughter” Easy. In the senior group, 16-year-old Patricia Hauer from Waldkirchen won the demonstration, beating Bernhard Fischer from Peuerbach in the final. Fischer also had reason to celebrate, he won the overall cow category in the type competition with the “Viking daughter” Fiau-Valerie. The young breeders’ night show also featured an elite auction: All nine offered young animals, which were very interesting from a breeding point of view, were sold at excellent prices, according to the FIH.

30,000 euros for bull calf

The most expensive female young cattle of the evening – from the Strobl family from Wippenham – changed hands for 8800 euros. the ooh Insemination station secured a genetically homozygous, polled bull calf from the Zauner farm in Münzkirchen for 30,500 euros in a bidding duel against a Bavarian insemination station.
