Hunting, agriculture and nature conservation in the district of Urfahr-Umwelt are all committed to actively protecting nature and species. At a stimulus event at the Wasserwirt in Untergeng, experts used concrete examples to show the 120 interested parties what possibilities there are for jointly getting sustainable things off the ground. Various funding options and the legal framework were also discussed.
District hunting group, district farmer’s chamber, nature conservation association and forest service had invited to the launch event. The goal: The living space in the district should become even more structurally rich and diverse by creating new hedges, biodiversity areas and waterfront zones. “We are all inextricably linked to land. And we are united by the goal of creating habitats with biodiversity,” said the organizers.
In the discussion that followed, the great willingness of those present to make their own contribution to a natural area rich in species and structures was noticeable. Landowners and community representatives also expressed their interest. They want to get down to concrete implementation of the first projects in the coming weeks. They are accompanied by the local hunters’ associations, funding advisors and experts. For example, plants and seed mixtures can be obtained from the hunters.
The dynamism that can be felt at the Wasserwirt gives reason to hope that a number of initiatives for shared habitat design and biodiversity will follow in the district. “In close cooperation between hunters, landowners and nature conservationists, we want to give a strong impetus to the common habitat design in the district,” emphasize the initiators, district hunter master Sepp Rathgeb, district farmer’s chamber chairman Peter Preuer and nature conservation association district chairman Erwin Pilgerstorfer.
