Child prodigy, scandal author, feminist, fashion lover, communist, language terrorist, enfant terrible, brilliant, vulnerable artist: “Elfriede Jelinek: Letting the language off the leash” was the first film to tell the story of the life and work of the incomparable author, the first Austrian writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2004.

The documentary by director Claudia Müller approaches the artist, who only appears to be unapproachable at first glance, and, with film and sound excerpts published for the first time, also shows the withdrawn author as a person with all her facets. The result is a multi-layered portrait that resolves contradictions and focuses on the creative use of language.

On the occasion of Women’s Day, the Green Steyr are showing this documentary about Elfriede Jelinek as part of their “Vollwertfilm” series tomorrow, Wednesday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Citykino Steyr. All cinema guests are welcomed with a glass of Prosecco.
