For the seventh time, on Holy Saturday, April 8, from 10 a.m. in Neusserling, a family from the region will be cycling. Little Elina was born with an immune deficiency and urgently needs a stem cell donation. In addition to these worries, the family’s financial situation is also strained.
“We have been on the road with the charity bike ride in the Mühlviertel since 2014 and last year we were able to convince an unbelievable 200 participants to cycle with us. The social responsibility of so many individual people in the region as well as numerous sponsors is overwhelming. We all cycle together every year to help,” says Michael Roither, who has been involved in the organization team for the charity bike ride from the very beginning.
Since 2022, the charity bike ride has also been an association that, like every year, has set itself the goal of collecting a considerable amount of donations for a family in need through the event.
Because the family around little Elina urgently needs financial support – Mama Stefanie and Papa Marco from Zwettl an der Rodl not only have concerns about their daughter, who needs a stem cell donation due to an immune deficiency, but also the financial situation is getting very tight due to the construction of the house . The baby, who was born in September last year, not only has a heart defect, but also a severe immune deficiency and therefore does not have the body’s own defences.

“We definitely want to support the family financially. You don’t always see people’s needs at first glance, and the people affected don’t like to talk about it. But the past few years have shown us that the donation checks are very important for the families – and that we can collect a lot of money together, which will benefit 100 percent of the family,” say Roither and his team, who know that many sports enthusiasts and the regional economy can achieve great things together.
