In the 30th race of the season, Austria’s women’s skiers achieved their first World Cup victory: Cornelia Hütter was the fastest in the Super-G in Kvitfjell, Norway.

The Styrian was only a hundredth of a second ahead of the Italian and twelve ahead of the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami on a decreasing track. Fourth was Mikaela Shiffrin (+0.16 seconds).

“It was a real fight and it’s brutally close. It’s nice that the hundredths are on my side,” Hütter told ORF, who won bronze in the Super-G at the World Ski Championships in Courchevel/Meribel.

With Franziska Gritsch (7th / +0.50), Mirjam Puchner (8th / +0.62) and Stephanie Venier (9th / +0.80), three other Austrians made it into the top ten. The Mühlviertlerin Elisabeth Reisinger (+3.05) landed in her racing comeback in the back field.

The Italian speed specialist Sofia Goggia was eliminated with a goal error.
