In addition, 3,450 linear meters of gutter cord, concrete speed bumps, were included to conduct surface water to a drain grate, sidewalks and 245 linear meters of piping. 47 led luminaires were also placed and 120 bushes were planted.

In a complementary way, the coastal strip was rehabilitated towards Punta Piedras, where lights, barbecue grills, a basketball court were placed and the bike lane was joined around the bicentennial park.

The investment in the project was 39 million pesosof which the OPP contributed 33 million and the Municipality of Colonia, 6 million.

Government investment in road infrastructure

The director of the OPP, Isaac Alfiereported that a 25% of funds transferred by the organization for the interior of the country in 2022 was allocated to improvements in infrastructure, works that, in addition, followed the international contracting procedures for greater transparency and results.

Likewise, President Luis Lacalle Pou confirmed that investment in road infrastructure during 2022 reached a figure close to 900 million dollars, in line with what was projected at the beginning of last year, when an investment of 861 million dollars was estimated.

In the same sense, the government allocated in that period some 630 million dollars to departmental governments and municipalitiesof which more than 150 million correspond to works coordinated by the OPP.
