Barbara Ohnmacht from the Innviertel region, who works for the environmental technology company Scheuch, has found her professional calling in Sweden: after starting her career at the Scheuch headquarters in Aurolzmünster, the 36-year-old from Ried is now working in a Scheuch branch in Kristianstad, Sweden .
In 2016, the first steps towards foreign assignments were taken. After intensive preparation, the technically experienced lady went to Sweden for sales and branch support. The actual secondment turned into a long-term local position with the goal of serving the Scandinavian region as the market leader in the energy sector by 2024. The focus in the first two years was particularly on integration in Sweden and consolidation of the new professional tasks. “There was a lot to learn. But I quickly became an accepted and full member of the male-technician and sales family,” says Barbara Ohnmacht.
In the meantime, regular customer visits, trade fairs and sometimes also assemblies are on the agenda. “In principle, I’m responsible for everything. Just as if we had our own small company,” says the woman from the Innviertel, who has long since made a name for herself as a strong woman in the men’s team. “In addition to day-to-day sales activities, I am now also responsible for IT issues and the onboarding of new colleagues. We now have a fine team of eight at Scheuch in Sweden and we also like to meet privately on the roof terrace or in the city.”
With a lot of courage and willpower in her backpack, the posting has become a great adventure and a valuable experience, says the 36-year-old.
