There will be a bank strike on Wednesday

“The Central Council has decided to protect all female comrades and dissidents who want to join the 24-hour international strike, both in the official and private financial sectors,” the banking union reported.

In Montevideo and Metropolitan areathere will also be a partial strike of the entire union between 6:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. for the purpose of accompanying the mobilization of the AEBU for the 8M that will converge on the esplanade of the University of the Republic (Udelar) together with other unions and social movements.

The Bankers Association decided, meanwhile, that in the interior of the country the implementation of the measures be resolved by each departmental plenary.

The AEBU has already been carrying out forceful measures in the framework of the rejection of the social security reform proposed by the government of Luis Lacalle Pou.

Last week there were mobilizations in Rivera and tacuarembó (Tuesday), Artigas and Melo (Wednesday), paysandu and Thirty-three (Thursday), and in Salto (Friday).

In all cases, the mobilization covered the entire financial system and consisted of the closing of cashiers at 4:30 p.m.
