“It’s our own fault for the exit, it was just a stupid foul,” says Johannes Aigner, section head of SV Schalchen, about the late goal and Jonas Weger’s exclusion shortly before the end of the game. A 0-1 defeat at the start of the second half of the season in the Landesliga West – Schalchner, who strengthened their team with two Brazilians in the winter and have scored almost all the points at home, had not expected that. At first it didn’t look like bankruptcy. “Kammer hardly got any chances in the first half and then only with set pieces. In the end they still scored three points, also because we simply don’t have a real striker at the moment,” said Aigner.
Failures that hurt
In general, SV Schalchen is currently struggling with a few failures. Dragos-Alin Dragalina (“He’s our best man”) is still injured, new signing Matheus Isaias Carvalho Chagas de Oliveira has been rested due to a strain he sustained in training camp and Lukas Berer is currently doing his master carpentry job. “It’s a bit too much. But we’re confident that at least our second Brazilian can play against Esternberg again at the weekend. It still won’t be easy, but we urgently need three points,” says Aigner.
The Andorf/Sigharting syndicate, which had no games last weekend, is also hoping for the first points in spring. They start the second half of the season on Saturday, March 11 at 3 p.m. with a home game against SPG St. Marienkirchen/Wallern 1b. Johannes Ertl, sporting director of SPG Andorf/Sigharting, is confident given the good preparation of his team and the selective reinforcements that they can take revenge on Saturday for the 3:4 defeat from autumn. “We have something to make up for. How difficult that is also depends on how many Upper Austria League players we are dealing with. But if we put what we’ve worked on in preparation onto the pitch, something should be possible,” says Ertl.
Everyone wants to play
The sporting director is certain that many youngsters made a big step forward in the winter, new signing Bernhard Öhlböck (before Union Gurten) fits the team perfectly and Sebastian Bauer, who returned from abroad, will play for SPG again in the spring. “We have a big squad and everyone wants to play. You could see that at the training camp in Slovenia. The lads were extremely professional – almost too disciplined for a state league team,” says Ertl.
SPG Andorf/Sigharting is currently in third place in the table, five points behind leader Bad Schallerbach. If the club officials have their way, this position should at least be maintained. “The point gap to the two first-placed teams shouldn’t be too great so that the championship remains exciting for as long as possible. What comes out at the end, we will show. It would be nice if we could go even higher, but our goal is and remains a place among the top five,” says Johannes Ertl.
