Young men arrested in Japan for unpleasant challenges in sushi restaurants

Three people were arrested in Japan to do unsanitary jokes in restaurants with sushi conveyor beltsin a wave of young rebels causing outrage on the internet.

The police accused the three youths of obstruct business of a huge restaurant kura sushi chainwhich received multiple customer complaints after what the videos went viral on social media.

The footage shows a member of the trio taking a piece of sushi from a plate and putting the whole thing in his mouth, before drinking soy sauce directly from the communal bottle.

Similar videos recorded in different restaurant chains emerged last month on platforms like Twitter or TikToksome jokes that became known as “sushi terrorism”.

in those pictures young people were seen licking their lips and then touching the pieces of sushi in circulation and lick the rim of a cup before placing it back on the belt.

Japanese Police Capture ‘Sushi Terrorism’

A police spokesman said on Thursday that the individuals were detained in the central region of Aichi: a 15-year-old girl and two boys, 21 and 19.

His attitude forced the Kura Sushi employees to make a emergency cleanupwhich “it made normal business operations difficult”the spokesman added.

The arrests are considered the first in this case that sparked outrage in Japan, a country famous for its high standards of hygiene.

Although no official charges have yet been filed, “obstruction of business” can carry heavy penalties in Japan of up to three years in jail.

The company that operates the Kura Sushi chain, with almost 500 establishments in Japan, welcomed the arrests and hoped that they will prevent imitators in the future.
