The battery should now slowly be prepared for use again from spring, says the ARBÖ. If the voltage falls below 2.5 volts, this is called a deep discharge. Then there is a risk of a short circuit in the battery. How to avoid a deep discharge? Always use the original charger, the club says. If the vehicle is not used for a longer period of time, remove the battery and store it in a dry place with a temperature above 15 degrees Celsius. Before the first use, the battery should be charged to a maximum of 80 percent. If the voltage is below 2.5 volts: stop charging, risk of short circuit!
