A court in the British capital sentenced the member of the Insulate Britain group to five weeks in prison. In the future, penalties for climate activists will be even more severe. After major protests, the conservative government wants to ban chaining or sticking as a form of protest with punishment.
In contrast to three other defendants, the 63-year-old did not receive a suspended sentence because he had announced that he would continue to take part in disruptive actions, the judge said on Monday. At the same time, he emphasized that the sentence was mild because the convict wanted to use the action to draw attention to the important problem of the climate crisis. In mid-December, two British climate activists were each sentenced to almost three months in prison for violating injunctions by blocking motorways.

Climate activists go to court in Linz
The climate protests of the group “Last Generation” will be a case for an Austrian court for the first time on March 15. The State Administrative Court (LVwG) hears the complaints of four activists, which from the oö.
