The prices for rental apartments on offer (net rent plus operating costs, excluding heating and electricity costs) rose by an average of 4.8 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year and are currently 14.5 euros per square meter, according to an ImmoScout24 data analysis. The analysis carried out in March is based on 700,000 data points from the years 2021 and 2022 of the offer data published on ImmoScout24.at.

1000 euros for an average rental apartment

Accordingly, the average rental apartment with 70 square meters costs around 1,000 euros. In Vienna, Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Salzburg up to 1,150 euros are due for the average apartment. In Burgenland, tenants have to pay an average of 700 euros for 70 square meters, in Carinthia, Lower and Upper Austria and Styria the rents for this size are up to 850 euros.

Rents increased the most in the previous year in Carinthia (plus 13.9 percent), in Burgenland (plus 9.8 percent) and in Lower Austria (plus 8.5 percent). However, at 10 to 12 euros per square meter, prices are still below the Austrian average. In Vienna, an average of 16.4 euros per square meter is required, which means that prices have risen by 5.5 percent in 2022. The price increase and the square meter prices are similarly high at 16 euros per square meter in Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Salzburg.
