The PT leader flatly ruled out a possible trip to the conflict zone after considering a meeting in kyiv with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenski, with whom he spoke at the beginning of the month. At the same time, he refused to travel to Moscow to meet Vladimir Putin.

In an interview with the Reuters agency, Lula made it clear that, although he will not travel to Ukraine and Russia, he will continue to work to find a peaceful solution to the conflict that has been going on for more than a year since the invasion in February 2022.

Weeks ago, the Brazilian president approached Putin with a peace proposal. Russian Vice Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin assured that the Russian leader is “examining” the document on he conflict in Ukraine. Besides, praised the “balanced policy” from the South American country.
