According to the police, the three suspects (31, 40 and 50 years old) from Kosovo were mainly targeting private residential properties. There they stole jewelry, gold bars, cash and other valuables at dusk. There are 52 crime scenes: 34 in Styria and 19 in Upper Austria. The districts of Freistadt, Perg, Urfahr and Ried were affected.
The loot is worth several hundred thousand euros, the Styrian state police said. The property damage caused by the break-ins is therefore several tens of thousands of euros.
The three perpetrators stayed in the greater Graz area. The 50-year-old was arrested in May 2022 during a house search. This March, the 31-year-old accomplice voluntarily turned himself in to the police and made a confession. He was taken to the Graz-Jakomini prison.
A spokesman for the Styrian police said the search was still ongoing for the third suspect.
