A passer-by alerted the St. Valentin fire department in the early hours of the morning because he saw a deer floating in the water. The roebuck fell into the Enns Canal, which feeds the St. Pantaleon power plant. Due to the high current and the smooth walls, the animal could not save itself.

With the help of a leash, the emergency services were able to catch the animal under a bridge. A firefighter stripped off his clothes and stepped into the cold water in his underwear to lift the deer out of the water.

The firefighters took care of the animal and warmed it up, after which it ran away in a field.
