The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. The attacker threatened his opponent with the words “I’ll cut your head”. He used a 45-centimetre-long machete. According to the police, the man from the Gmunden district made left-right movements with the long knife.
Arrest in Laakirchen
The victim from the Vöcklabruck district alerted the police, while the 45-year-old fled. He was finally arrested in the city of Laakirchen. The police seized the machete, which he had tucked into his waistband on his back.
When they brought the 45-year-old to the police station, the officials were also threatened with killing. “All officers present were insulted in a continuous loop with a wide variety of swear words,” says the police report. The man is now in Wels Prison.
