During the second day of Country Square After the third auction in March, cattle sales rose, leaving producers enthusiastic, not only because of the placement percentagebut the quality of the cattle improved a lot due to the rainfall.

With the La Niña phenomenon over and the rains that appeared a few weeks ago, the spirits of the producers improved considerably, making the replacement market more fluid, reaching a placement of 94%. The improvement of the fields due to the rainfall could be seen in the quality of the cattle, leaving both the producers and the buyers that, beyond the extreme drought that Uruguay suffered, not all the resources were lost as believed.

Among the good news is that the values ​​of all categories improved by 5%. The categories that were sold in their entirety were the 140 kg calves for an average of $2.50 (with 1818 heads), the calves from 140 to 180kg for $2.45 (with 2406 heads), the steers over 3 years old with an average value of $1.96 (with 358 heads) and the mixed ones of more than one year for 1.84 dollars, (with 100 heads).

The categories that received the least placement were the calves over 180 kilos with a 91% and an average price of $2.53. Added to these are the 2 to 3 year old steers with a placement of 83% and an average price per kilo of 2 dollars. Finally, the calves with a placement of 89% and an average price per kilo of 2.14 dollars.

Compared to the previous auction, the mixed lots obtained an increase of 9%, the calves achieved an increase of 5.8%, the heifer over two years old obtained a growth of 7.6% and the heifers between one and two years an increase of 5%.
