A few hours earlier, as reported exclusively in OÖN, it became known that the Ried public prosecutor’s office had initiated investigations against Mayor Bernhard Zwielehner and the three deputy mayors in their role as the general assembly of Energie Ried.
The public prosecutor’s office is investigating the job advertisement for the current managing director of Energie Ried. There is an initial suspicion of infidelity in the form of a “Pro forma tender process”, says prosecutor Alois Ebner. The politicians firmly reject this.

This investigation did not play a role in the municipal council meeting, but Energie Ried was already an issue. On the one hand, it became known that the employment relationship with the commercial director Silke Sickinger was terminated by mutual agreement on March 31st.
According to OÖN information, silence was agreed on the modalities. On January 1st, Johann Wührer was appointed authorized signatory with independent power of representation. Friedrich Pöttinger has been the CEO since autumn 2022. No agreement should have been reached with the released technical director Anton Eckschlager by yesterday afternoon.
No politicians on the board
In the municipal council, both an amendment to the articles of association and an amendment to the self-restraint resolution were decided. This means that the Supervisory Board of Energie Ried, which currently consists of 15 people (ten municipal councils and five works councils), as of July 31 “depoliticized” and reduced to eight people (five members of the supervisory board and three members of the works council). Without exception, persons with a political function are no longer sent to the Supervisory Board.
“The aim is to fill the supervisory board with people from the business world who have a great deal of specialist know-how and who feel committed to the positive development of Energie Ried and the municipality of Ried”it says in the official speech.
