The City of Linz endeavors to take measures to promote species diversity and biodiversity. For example, employees recently placed a huge Benjesjecke in the Heilhamer Au in Linz-Urfahr.
Loose deposits
Benje hedges are loose deposits of prunings, such as branches and twigs, which are piled up like a kind of wall. They can be used as a boundary as well as a privacy screen and allow clippings to be stored attractively. In addition, deadwood hedges offer nesting sites, food space, hiding places and hibernation quarters for countless animal species such as robins, wrens, common toads, hedgehogs, lizards as well as brimstone butterflies, ground beetles and lacewings.
