The Walt Disney Co.the largest employer in central Florida, and the Republican governor have been battling since last year, when Disney criticized a new law state that prohibited talk about sexuality or gender in schools. DeSantis, who is expected to announce his candidacy for president of the United States in the coming weekshas repeatedly attacked “woke Disney” in public statements, characterizing him as liberal.

Before DeSantis appointees took over the boardthe company promoted changes in the tax district agreement that limited the action of the new organism for decades. In April, the new oversight body said that Disney’s plans to the possible expansion of Disney World did not comply with state law and declared that agreement void.

Disney filed a lawsuit in federal court earlier that day, accusing DeSantis of illegally using government power to punish the company for exercise their right to freedom of expression. The board of the Central Florida Tourism Supervisory District responded with its own lawsuit in state court, saying it sought to quash “back room deals” favorable to Disney.
