The former hotel San Rafael is closer to becoming the complex Cipriani Ocean Resort, Club Residences & Casino of east point and, according to the mayor of Maldonado, Enrique Antia, could open its doors in 2025 to become a reference for tourism in Uruguay.

The communal chief reported at a press conference that this week he appeared before the Urban Planning Department the technical work team that will carry out the construction of the new complex, led by the Italian businessman Giuseppe Cipriani.

The idea is that by 2025 both the hotel and the casino of the complex will be completed, and that that same year work will also begin for the platforms of the three residential and office towers that are part of the property.

During her conversation with the press, Antía commented that a budget adjustment had been submitted to the Departmental Board and that excavations had already begun on the land where the emblematic Hotel Saint Raphael. Likewise, the mayor pointed out that those who had not believed in the realization of the project “should bite their tongues.”

How much will an apartment in the ex-hotel cost?

The pre-sale of the apartments of the Cipriani Ocean Resort, Club Residences & Casino complex, in Punta del Este, opened at the end of last March. Priced between $6,500 and $7,850 per square meter, the units will sell for between $1,085,500 and $10,456,200.

After several twists and turns that included serious doubts about the possibility of the project being carried out, millionaire investors who abandoned the initiative halfway through and even modifications in the architectural design of the complex; The excavation works in the property corresponding to the historic San Rafael Hotel began in January of this year.

He Cipriani Group acquired the hotel property for 50 million dollars in 2018, located in the Stop 12 of Brava Beachand in 2019 it demolished the traditional enclosure due to its poor structural condition, a decision that earned several criticisms of the Maldonado Municipality and the management company.
