Holidays in the middle of nature: the campsite at the bathing lake is ideal for families and everyone who likes it quiet. (Municipality of Pramet)

10,000 overnight stays per year. This means that the municipality of Pramet had the highest overnight stay rate of the entire s’Innviertel tourism association during the corona pandemic. The biggest visitor attraction is undoubtedly the family campsite at the Pramet bathing lake. For ten years this was looked after on a voluntary basis by Walter Ehrentraut. In February 2023, the 73-year-old from Waldzell retired for health reasons.

Mayor Eduard Seib and his colleagues took this decision as an opportunity to put the campsite, booking system, payment and entry control on a new footing. While Walter Ehrentraut used to look for the right place for visitors to spend relaxing days at the lake, campers can now decide for themselves where they want to park their mobile homes or caravans. “Everything has been parceled out, with each parcel being between 70 and 80 square meters in size. The pitches can now be booked online, by telephone or directly at the municipal office. Visitors can then drive in and out as they please using number plate recognition,” explains the mayor. In the event of problems, there is also a service hotline that guests can contact. Since, despite the technology, it is not entirely possible without human contact, the community is also looking for a groundskeeper. It shouldn’t be difficult to find someone, after all, there are hardly any nicer jobs.

In addition to the numerous plots, there are also two tiny houses on the nature campsite that can be rented by guests this season. It was designed by Eduard Seib, himself a passionate camper, himself. The mayor called in reinforcements to build the houses. “We have skilful people and tackle it across factions,” says Seib, who is happy about the cooperation. And the prospects. “Anyone who rents a house like this can enjoy the sunset over the lake from the roof terrace.”

In addition to the atmosphere, the campsite at the bathing lake scores with clean sanitary facilities, a large children’s playground, reasonable prices, its location in the middle of nature, the “m2” beach bar and the kiosk run by Martina Gadermayr and Manuel Philipp, the infrastructure and fresh pastries . “We have two bakers who go to the campsite regularly,” says Eduard Seib.

The fact that the said infrastructure exists in this form is thanks to the commitment of the mayor and the funding from the federal government. “We couldn’t do it without this support, which is extremely uncomplicated and unbureaucratic,” Seib is convinced. The community leader is also grateful to the Eberschwang police station, which intervenes in the event of problems (“Fortunately, this is really rare”).

Word has gotten around about how relaxing it is at the bathing lake in Pramet. The campsite has long since ceased to be an insider tip. “We have Dutch and Belgians who come regularly,” says Seib. Sometimes even the police mediate. “Last year we had visitors who pulled off the motorway in Tumeltsham and asked the motorway police where there was a nice campsite. The officers sent them to us in Pramet.”

Bookings for the campsite at the bathing lake can be made by calling 0676/821292575, by email to [email protected] or online at pramet.at.
