Mevir projects a record increase in the delivery of homes during 2023

The organization anticipates that at the end of the current administration, 10% of these new properties will be wooden constructions.

The Honorary Commission for the Eradication of Unhealthy Rural Housing (Mevir) projects a record rise regarding the delivery of households in the five-year period between 2020 and 2025. The agency plans to reach 1,000 housing solutions granted in 2023compared to the 900 that it awarded on average during previous years.

In additionit is expected that by the end of the current government administration, 10% of the real estate be sustainable wooden constructions. “Mevir has to modernize in the way of building,” explained its president, John Paul Delgado. This type of housing allows to reduce costs, and work times, in half.

Delgado highlighted that Mevir signed agreements with other organizations of the State for the infrastructure construction of a community and productive nature, working together with the Ministry of Interior in the construction of fire departments and police stations, such as those recently inaugurated in the towns of Juanicó and Montes, or those that will open soon in Sauce and Tala, all of them in cannelloni.

Mevir currently collaborates with the Institute for Children and Adolescents of Uruguay (INAU) in the development of Child and Family Care Centers (CAIF), and the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP) in the construction and repair of schools. In turn, it does so with the State Health Services Administration (ASSE) in the construction of polyclinics, and with the National Colonization Institute (INC.) in support tasks for rural producers.

Mevir reaffirmed its commitment to the Avanzar plan of the Ministry of Housing

The president of Mevir reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to the plan move forwardin charge of Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (MVOT), through which the eradication of urban and rural settlements is sought.
