“The situation in Argentina was the main topic of the meeting between Lula and the head of the IMF“said a source from the Brazilian delegation accompanying Lula in his participation as a guest of the summit of Group of 7 (G-7)which brings together United States, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, United Kingdom and Japan.
The Brazilian president had already anticipated his speech in favor of Argentina: “I’m going to talk to the IMF so that they remove the knife from Argentina’s neck”stated days ago in search of helping to clean up the derisory credit granted to the government of Macri.

In this framework, the leader of the Workers Party (PT) spoke out in favor of Argentina and criticized the external debt: “The external indebtedness of many countries, that victimized Brazil in the past and today destroys Argentinais the cause of a flagrant and growing inequality, and requires a treatment of the IMF that considers the social consequences of adjustment policies”.

In his speech, Lula Da Silva pointed to the most powerful leaders in the world and asked “a change of mindtearing down myths and abandoning paradigms”: “Today’s world lives the overlap of multiple crises: the pandemic of Covid-19climate change, geopolitical tensionsa war in the heart of Europepressures on food and energy security and threats to democracy“.
“It makes no sense to call on emerging countries to help resolve the ‘multiple crises’ facing the world without their legitimate concerns being addressed, and without their being adequately represented in the main bodies of global governance,” he concluded.
