Although the expectation was that the exchange rate would close April negative, finally, with the rebound on the last Friday of the month, the accumulated index was at 0.35%, that is to say, a little above the values ​​of when the month began, so that it did not manage to offset the enormous fall in January (-3.25%)paid by the drop of 0.63% in March. Meanwhile, of the first four months of the year, two were in the red and two were positive.

In this way, in so far in 2023the foreign currency accumulates a fall of 3.02%. While, compared to the same day but last year -May 19, 2022-, when the exchange rate was 40,331 pesos, the interanual variation is from 3.65% negative. It has been a long time since this variable was positioned at these levels, last Friday April 21 it even fell below 3 percentage points.

The year-on-year indicator fell sharply in recent months, mainly because, by then –beginning of 2022–, the dollar had already begun to fall after reaching the historical peaks it had registered in the first weeks of last year. Meanwhile, now, the year-on-year variation remains balanced and collapses every time the current exchange rate rises.
