Conaprole and the union, one step away from ending the conflict in the dairy sector

Conaprole authorities and union representatives agreed to work on a “temporary operating proposal” after a meeting at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, with which, between Monday and Tuesday, they would put an end to the conflict that jeopardized the supply of milk in Uruguay.

The tripartite meeting had as its axis reformulating the working conditions in the UHT plant of Rodriguez and thus both parties reached an agreement of character “transient”. It is that the issues touched on in the labor portfolio will be evaluated on Monday, May 29 and the objective is that the agreement materializes on Tuesday the 30th.

The AOEC reported through a statement that, if the agreement is endorsed, “it would allow work to begin on Tuesday, May 30” and define a scope of negotiation with a period of 30 days, “trying to reach definitive agreements.”

It is within this framework that the union reported that the union measures, which jeopardized the supply of milk in Uruguay, remain on hold.

In a press conference after the meeting, the general secretary of AOEC, Luis Goichea, indicated that, if the agreement materialized, a number of workers would return to work at the UHT plant in Rodriguez, although he avoided providing further details about the agreement.

The losses generated by the Conaprole conflict

When referring to the consequences of forceful measures, the president of Conaprole, Gabriel Fernández Secco, He considered that the conflict was “really capricious and unnecessary” on the part of the workers and said that the company lost 1.5 million liters of long-life milk.

The force measures began after the firm invested in the Villa Rodríguez plant to incorporate new packaging machines, with the capacity to 15,000 liters per hour long life milk Faced with this, Conaprole proposed a rescheduling of shifts and forms of work, a measure that was rejected by the union.
