The Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishidaannounced on Tuesday the dismissal of his son from his position as secretary due to his “inappropriate behavior” at the official residence.

The move came after a magazine reported last week that Shotaro Kishida had invited relatives to the official residence of the head of government for a party last yearwith images of some of them imitating a press conference and a guest stretched out on a staircase.

“His behavior last year in public space was inappropriate for a political secretary, and we have decided to replace him”, Kishida declared to the press. The cessation will take effect this Thursday, the AFP agency reported.

The leader had already lashed out at his 32-year-old son, but opposition criticism was on the rise and called for his dismissal.

The prime minister had been criticized in relation to his son, who he had used official cars on trips to Europe to buy souvenirs for ministers.

Kishida lost four ministers in three months due to allegations of financial irregularities or possible links to the controversial Moon sect, also known as the Unification Church.
