A passer-by raised the alarm with the Wels police on Thursday afternoon: two people ran away from another on Ringstrasse. The pursuer called loudly for the police. This, a 45-year-old from the Grieskirchen district, later stated that the two perpetrators had broken into his car.
He parked his car on Ringstrasse to go shopping. When he got back to the car, he noticed that the driver’s door was open and a stranger was tampering with the vehicle. She finally fled with another person. The 45-year-old initially took up the pursuit. However, when one of the car burglars probably pulled out a pepper spray, the car owner gave up the pursuit.
With photos taken by the victim, the police started the search for the two perpetrators. A tip from a passer-by finally put the investigators on the right track: the two burglars, a 42-year-old Serb and a 57-year-old Bosnian, were caught in the guest garden of a restaurant. In addition to tools to break into cars, the police also seized two pepper sprays and foreign passports from them. The two suspects were arrested. They were taken to Wels Prison.
