Upper Austria’s economy is shaped by large corporations as well as small and medium-sized businesses. The applicants for the OÖN Digital Prize Digitalos show that they also feel comfortable in the digital world. The list of participants grows longer every day. Anyone who wants to apply and thinks they have a chance of winning a 3D-printed voestalpine trophy has until next Saturday, October 14th.

Applications for the Digitalos are only available online at www.digitalos.at possible. People and companies are being sought in five categories: digital start-ups, digital personality, digital transformation, digital project, special prize Digitalia, the most fascinating woman in the digital sector. All applicants are cordially invited to the gala evening on November 16th in the Linzer Tabakfabrik.

Daniel Höller and his team from Qapture will be there. The Linz-based start-up transforms real objects and environments into accurate digital models. This involves, for example, digital twins on construction sites or in industry to save time, money and resources. Qapture was founded in 2020 and employs 14 people. The company was involved, among other things, in the new building of the parliament in Vienna and the Ikea building at the Westbahnhof Vienna.

Simone Kemptner from Freistadt submitted her application in the “digital personality” category. The Mühlviertel resident shows healthy and easy recipes to cook on her blog www.cookiteasy.at and on several social media channels. This means it receives tens of thousands of views per month. Kemptner is also active in the area of ​​online marketing.

Virtual scavenger hunt

Inspiring people to move outdoors and go on treasure hunts – that is the goal of Willem Brinkert and his employees at the start-up Arplace from Munderfing. With the help of augmented reality, parents can set up children’s rooms virtually in advance, children can go on treasure hunts anywhere with cell phones or tablets, and hikers can find out information about a wind farm on the way.

Arplace should also be usable for companies. Furniture stores could create additional exhibition spaces, for example presenting concepts for residential units in inner cities. The cultural sector is also a possible partner.
