The Swedish-Chinese car manufacturer Volvo (and therefore also Polestar, the listed joint venture between Volvo Cars and the Chinese car manufacturer Geely) is now making its new vehicles small “Drive-in cinemas”.
With an update to the Google infotainment system from September 18th (over-the-air update), the video portal “YouTube” imported automatically. The streaming service “Amazon Prime Video” in turn can be used via the “Google Play Store” be downloaded. The prerequisite is the Google infotainment system.
Watch films only while stationary
Since Volvo (and also Polestar) still attaches enormous importance to the issue of safety, video streaming is only possible when the vehicle is stationary. The apps cannot be activated while driving so that the driver is not distracted and can concentrate fully on what is happening on the road.
You can now watch your favorite films while waiting at the charging station, while taking a breather on longer journeys, in quiet everyday moments or at a drive-in cinema evening with up to four friends.
“With access to these services in our vehicles, we are adding to the ever-growing list of software and applications that improve the lives of Volvo drivers”said Erik Severinson, head of Volvo’s new car program. “In doing so, we are keeping our promise to build cars that are continually evolving.”
