The supply of fuels at service stations would normalize throughout the day, according to the forecasts of the Union of Sellers of Naphtha of the Uruguay (Unvenu), after a long weekend in which there were shortages in almost the entire country.
It is expected that this Tuesday, the transporters will enter the plant Ancap and load the tanker trucks to carry out the usual distribution in Montevideothe metropolitan area and the rest of Uruguay.
On Saturday the freight workers refused to load trucks in the midst of the strike carried out since Wednesday by the Federation Ancap (Fancap), further complicating the supply situation generated by the force measure.
There was a lack of fuel at almost all service stations.
The president of Unvenu, Daniel Añónstated at a press conference on Monday that more than 50% of service stations are without at least one of the products, be it gasoline or diesel.
“On Thursday we woke up and were surprised that Fancap was going to hold an assembly,” he commented and explained that “whenever this happens it takes 2 or 3 hours and the freighters leave.”
The union leader indicated that that day there was no distribution of fuel with the exception of “what came out in an hour and a half”, the time worked by the operators. “It will be 10% of the sale,” he indicated regarding this remainder from Thursday.
Fancap dissociated itself from the fuel shortage
Manuel Hillleader of the Ancap Federation, rejected that the shortage of fuels in a large part of the country was a consequence of the union’s forceful measures.
He denied, in dialogue with Radio Montecarlo, Añón’s statements about the freight workers who left the plant. Ancap by the assembly and assured that “Fancap is always attacked because it is easier when the problem here was a group of truck drivers who decided not to go and reload.”
