Ukraine has acquired at least 10 combat UAVs from Turkey in two years

Since 2019, Ukraine has purchased at least 10 Bayraktar combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Turkey. This became known on Friday, December 3.

“Since 2019 [Турция] sold to Ukraine dozens of drones, along with control stations and missiles, ”writes Bloomberg, citing sources in the Turkish defense company.

This amount is several times greater than the previously announced data.

It is reported that Ukraine has ordered several dozen more UAVs, which are now still under development.

On November 29, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara is counting on its participation in resolving the crisis between Russia and Ukraine and intends to continue discussing this topic with Moscow. Commenting on the words of the Turkish president, political scientist and expert on the Caucasus and the Middle East Stanislav Tarasov told Izvestia that Erdogan is trying to show his geopolitical significance with his statements.

On December 1, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that there was no talk of any mediating role of Turkey in the settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine. In turn, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow would welcome the possible influence of the Turkish president on Kiev in the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
