Majority of the population for compulsory vaccination and punishments

According to a recent poll by pollster Peter Hajek for ATV, 53 percent are in favor. Almost a third of those surveyed (32 percent) are strictly against compulsory vaccination, 13 percent are undecided. In another poll, 63 percent are in favor of penalties for those who refuse to be vaccinated.

There are big differences among the groups of voters: While the vast majority of ÖVP voters (89 percent) and SPÖ voters (75 percent) welcome the introduction of mandatory vaccinations, 90 percent of FPÖ voters are against the planned introduction in February.

“If one assumes that all those who are undecided do not decide exclusively for one of the two options – for or against – then from today’s perspective one can speak of a clear majority in favor of mandatory vaccination,” summarizes Hajek.

63 percent find penalties justifiable

The opinion research institute Unique Research has again ascertained for the current issue of “profil” that a majority of 63 percent consider penalties for unvaccinated persons to be justifiable. When asked about the type of sanction, 34 percent could imagine a deductible for a Covid hospital stay. 23 percent are in favor of administrative fines, four percent for a job ban and two percent want a “different” sanction. 29 percent of those questioned are in favor of no punishment at all if they refuse to be vaccinated, seven percent gave no answer.

500 were asked, the maximum fluctuation range is +/- 4.4 percent.
