Putin pointed to NATO’s confrontational line towards Russia

The NATO bloc is clearly leading a confrontational line towards Russia, the alliance is unfriendly and declares the Russian Federation its adversary. This was announced on December 8 by Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“Unfortunately, the NATO bloc is clearly pursuing a confrontational line towards Russia. The expulsion of our diplomats, which ultimately led to the fact that we closed the corresponding NATO structure in Moscow, suggests that the structure is disposed towards us, to put it mildly, unfriendly, “he said at a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Greece. Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Putin stressed that the alliance “declares Russia its adversary.” At the same time, he noted that Russia does not seek any confrontation.

Earlier on Wednesday, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said that NATO is beginning to crush Ukraine under itself, and stressed that for Moscow such actions are a “red line”. The Kremlin spokesman stressed that Russia does not threaten anyone, but only takes measures against the threat that is spreading towards its borders.

Also on that day, it became known that US leader Joe Biden, in response to Russia’s concern about NATO’s eastward movement, promised Putin to discuss this topic with his alliance colleagues. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov noted that Moscow’s concerns about NATO’s eastward expansion and issues related to the provision of the necessary security guarantees will be discussed in the group on strategic stability.

Earlier, on November 18, the Russian president accused NATO of destroying the dialogue mechanism. According to him, the alliance is showing a markedly confrontational attitude towards the Russian Federation, “persistently” bringing its military infrastructure closer to the Russian borders.

On October 6, the alliance decided to revoke the accreditation of eight employees of the Russian representative office at the organization. In response, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced the suspension of the work of the Russian mission to NATO from November 1.
