Doctor charged with mask exemption certificates

Doctor charged with mask exemption certificates

According to spokeswoman Yvonne Huber, the doctor is accused of forgery and suppression of evidence. The criminal complaint was submitted to the responsible district court in Liezen. The accused faces up to one year imprisonment.

Huber explained that the doctor should have issued certificates with mask exemptions for around 20 patients known by name without even having examined the women and men. Around 100 other cases, where the names are not known, are listed in the file. In addition, the doctor is said to have changed his passwords for e-mail accounts, for example, after the house search and seizure. This is considered repression of evidence and has also been charged.

In addition to the charges, there are also discontinued investigations, namely those certificates that the man had issued for people abroad, primarily Germany. However, investigations are still being carried out against German customers in the neighboring country.

Now the court in Liezen has to examine the criminal complaint. If this is formally correct, the negotiation will be advertised, said spokeswoman Sabine Anzenberger to the APA. It is still unclear whether the accused will come to Liezen for the trial, because he apparently left for Tanzania in Africa last year. He has been an opponent of protective masks since the outbreak of the pandemic and was confronted with trivializing words about Corona. A professional ban has already been imposed on him for this reason.
