A ski tour on the Hohen Dachstein (2,995 meters) ended in the hospital for a young Czech on Sunday. The 28-year-old set off with four friends from the Wiesberghaus (1,872 meters) to the so-called Rumpler circuit in the morning. In good conditions, the group reached the summit around midday and then descended together over the Hallstädter Glacier towards the Simonyhütte.

Fell after jumping

There was a serious accident at around 2240 meters above sea level, near the “Ebenseer Kreuz”: the 28-year-old jumped over a small hill with his skis and fell so badly that he was no longer able to continue due to severe pain . According to police, the young man may have already had a previous injury.

Mountain rescuers treated the Czech at the scene of the accident and took him with the skiddo to the Simonyhütte, located at 2,205 meters. He was taken to a hospital by rescue helicopter, the police said on Monday morning.
