The truck had loaded two containers and torn off the overhead electrical wiring in a bus underpass under the highway. Because the truck was likely to have transported ammunition or ammunition parts and there were fears that it could be ignited by electricity, the area was closed for security reasons.

Traffic jams for miles

Police specialists then quickly determined that the contents of the containers did not pose any danger, said a spokeswoman for the state police department. Shortly after 7 p.m. the A1 was reopened to traffic. The truck was slightly damaged, but was able to continue driving and was driven to the Schwarzenberg barracks in Siezenheim together with a second US military truck. From there we should continue towards Germany on Tuesday. The closure resulted in kilometers of traffic jams on the highway and in the city in the evening, and trolleybus service on two lines was also suspended.

On the way to NATO exercise

The two trucks were apparently coming from Slovenia on the way to a NATO exercise in Germany and had a transit permit for Austria. It was not initially known why the driver entered the underpass under the motorway and why he overestimated the headroom. No one was injured in the incident.
