Utzenaich coach: “I’m actually afraid of the team myself at the moment”

Experienced Saban Muratovic really got going with Utzenaich in the spring and is now only three points behind leaders Lambrechten.
Diersbach is pleased with the successful run so far in the spring.

It all started like summer. As at the start of the season, SPG Utzenaich/Antiesenhofen clearly lost to Riedau at the start of spring. In contrast to the fall – where coach Josef Feichtinger’s team suffered three more defeats – the syndicate succeeded in immediately reversing the trend. They can now boast a series of four wins in a row. This means they have moved up to second place in the West District League, three points behind league leaders Lambrechten. The SPG is already leading the second half of the season. “We first had to get to know each other, but now we have become a team,” says SPG coach Feichtinger. “The mix between young and old is now a good one. The atmosphere in the team is great.”

No wonder given the SPG’s current results. Among other things, two direct competitors at the top of the league, Neumarkt (5:0) and Senftenbach (2:1), were defeated in the last few weeks. “I’m currently afraid of the team myself. We’re finding the right answer to every situation at the moment,” says Feichtinger.

The foundation for the current successful run was laid primarily in the winter preparations. A lot of time was invested in the tactical area, says Feichtinger. Now you are harvesting the fruits. In addition, according to the SPG coach, they made a real “golden move” with striker Michael Schmidbauer during the winter break. Schmidbauer came to the Antiesen from their district league neighbor Neuhofen and has already been on the top scorer list five times in the spring.

1b as a challenge

Even though there are still a few games left on the program, the regional league is already playing a role in the minds of those responsible for the club – although not only in a positive sense: “Of course you want to be promoted as a team and as a coach if the opportunity arises. But at the same time 1b regulation from the state league onwards is an enormous challenge that was unnecessarily imposed on the district league newcomers two years ago,” says Feichtinger. The experienced coach believes that the well-known reserve operation is much healthier for the development of the clubs.

Journey to the top?

A problem that Diersbach would of course not have to deal with if they were promoted to the district league. In the 1st Class Northwest, the current second-place team is playing a strong second half of the season and has also won four games in a row. In the winter the club went their separate ways with coach Krisztian Pest. Kurt Litzlbauer took over his position and has now led Diersbacher to second place. The gap to leader St. Roman is now only two points. “Kurt worked with the team, especially on the defensive side, and made changes to the system. They are working really well,” says Diersbach sports director Josef Steinmann.
