The small town of Mamling will once again be a cultural meeting place this summer: Christa and Wilfried Scharf are opening their cultural barn and attracting visitors with a varied program. Eleven event highlights are on offer; the two have been working on the program for months. “Many people even register with us themselves,” says Christa Scharf happily. This year the Mamlingen Music Summer is being invited for the third time; the artists performing were all selected by zither virtuoso Wilfried Scharf. The couple is very pleased that their “old, dusty barn” has become a popular cultural meeting place. A particular focus is on young musicians. “We want to offer a stage not only to well-known artists, but also to young artists. We want them to know that they can not only play for the teacher, but also inspire an audience,” says Scharf. The couple succeeded in all of this: well-known and still unknown artists want to inspire people in the culture barn. Here is a program overview:
Jolly spoken and cleverly spoken: Josef Kettl, the Hofer singing quartet, Wilfried Scharf and Karin Gabauer invite you to a reading with music on Friday, June 7th, 7 p.m., thereby opening the Mamlingen Music Summer.
Karl Valentin evening: The actors Jürgen Wegscheider and Florian Prestele will perform a scenic and musical reading on Friday, June 14th, 7 p.m.
Ten Strings – 10 strings: The first matinee will take place on Sunday, June 23rd, 11 a.m., with Ingrid Westermeier (guitar) and Sunny Howard (violin).
Concert in the garden: Loderer Pass under the direction of Richard Ortner will play on Sunday, June 30th, 11 a.m., in the garden (not in the barn). Picnic boxes can be pre-ordered, but you should bring your own blankets.
Irish Folk and Blues Night: The Medley Folk Band will be a guest again with traditional folk music from Ireland, Scotland and North America. To be heard on Friday, July 12th, 7 p.m.
Voices from the Innviertel: Anita Kreil and the Salzburger Saitenklang will perform well-known songs and arias on Friday, August 9th, 7 p.m.
Thoroughly stirred up: The trio Zitherwege and the women’s song Pomp-A-Dur will perform on Friday, August 16th, 7 p.m., in the Kulturscheune.
Reinterpret folk songs wants the Trio Südbahnhof. To be heard on Sunday, August 25th, 11 a.m.
Masters of tomorrow play on Sunday, September 1st. Young talents will introduce themselves from 11 a.m.
Serbian night: The music ensemble Danica will play traditional music from the Southeast European cultural area on Friday, September 6th, thus concluding the Mamlingen music summer.
