It is the special feature that brings thousands of people of different age groups to a place that is not normally accessible to them for two days once a year. This year, on June 7th and 8th, Linz Harbor will be transformed into a festival zone that cannot easily be compared to anything else. It is the mixture of sport, activity, music, culinary delights, relaxation and hanging out by the water that makes the “Bubble Days” what they are: an event for which there is no admission charge, but which represents a benefit for Linz.
Develop
Constantly developing, but without only thinking about permanent growth – that is the intention of the organizers who pull all the strings in the background. Jörg Neumayr, together with Jürgen Lockinger the inventor of the “slightly different Linz Harbor Festival” organized by the LI.KIDO. cultural association, always has a plan. “It’s about entertaining people in a variety of ways, but at the same time involving them in the festival,” says the Linz resident. Spraying graffiti, trying out skateboarding or skimboarding or simply taking a dip in the “Splash & Chill” zone – all of this is also possible at the “Bubble Days”.
After an absolute visitor record of around 42,000 people was recorded last year, the team around Neumayr and Lockinger, in which the young people are now also getting involved, sees its actions as vindicated. This does not mean that they are resting on their laurels 15 years after the initial idea.
Contest with professional blobbers
So while successful things are continued, new things are also constantly incorporated into the concept of the “Bubble Days”. After the successful premiere last year, “blobbing” is once again a big topic. “We’re making the contest bigger and more international this year,” says Neumayr. Professional blobbers let themselves be swirled into the water by air and are graded – by a jury of experts and a jury of celebrities, which will include former ski jumper Martin Koch and former world-class beach volleyball player Clemens Doppler. Both know what it means to cut a good figure in flight.
