Lions are helping so that Michael can live at home

“Your son broke the chains in medicine. It is amazing how much love and fighting spirit they used to achieve the impossible. ”That was the statement made by a Linz primary school 14 years ago.

14 years after the accident in which the then one and a half year old Michael Gschliffner was rescued after falling into the swimming pool, pronounced dead and yet reanimated, and after months of artificial respiration in a coma, the situation of the Gschliffner family from Molln is still precarious. Today and after years of medical, technical and personal care, Michael has grown physically into a young man. In his vegetative state, he can even react to speeches from mother and grandma – Mama Sabine Gschliffner: “The best thing is, he can laugh again from the bottom of his heart!”

In addition to all the care, the family of five is constantly reaching the limit of their financial capabilities. The father as a police officer and the mother as a commercial employee manage all the effort only with the help of public support and appeals for donations. Even then, the 24-hour care by nurses, for the daily suction, probing, etc. and for logo, occupational and physiotherapy, more than 1000 euros in monthly financial costs. In addition, the renovation of the sanitary area, which is necessary for the grown boy, is planned for the coming year 2022.

Michael’s parents know that the only alternative to all of their efforts to care for and treat their Michael at home would be permanent care in a special hospital. The ladies of the Lions Club Kirchdorf Ambra know the tragic situation of the Mollner family up close and, together with Lions Austria, have initiated the possibility of tax-deductible support on the donation platform “lions-helfen.at”. The goal is to cover a financing requirement of around 30,000 euros for around two years for Michael Gschliffner’s optimal care in his home.

Help us and donate to lions-helfen.at – project “So that Michael can live at home …” 100 percent of the donation will benefit Michael.
