The number of cases is thus again above the daily average of 2,770, the seven-day incidence rose to 217.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The number of hospital patients, however, continued to decrease and fell to 1,004 people. This is a decrease of 61 compared to the previous day, 322 people and thus nine fewer are cared for in an intensive care unit. Sixteen people died with Covid-19, the number is just below the weekly average of 17.6. A total of 123 such deaths have been recorded in the past seven days – there have been 13,749 since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. The number of active cases rose by 1,240 to 31,417 compared to the previous day.
A total of 442,867 PCR and antigen rapid tests have been registered since Friday, including 363,742 meaningful PCR tests, around 100,000 fewer than the previous day. The positive rate of the PCR tests was one percent, twice as much as the weekly average. The highest positive rates of over two percent were registered in Tyrol and Salzburg. The federal state with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Tyrol with 363.4, followed by Vienna, Salzburg and Vorarlberg (284.7, 272.9 and 249.2 respectively), Burgenland has the lowest value with 138.8.
The number of vaccinations carried out was extremely low due to New Year’s Eve: 8,398 vaccinations were carried out on Friday, on Thursday it was at least almost 35,000. Overall, according to the data in the e-vaccination pass, they have already received at least one vaccination.
6,325,377 people and thus 70.8 percent of Austrians have valid vaccination protection. The protection rate (valid vaccination certificate) is highest in Burgenland at 76.3 percent, while Upper Austria brings up the rear with 66.4 percent. A total of 22,156 first vaccinations, 67,727 second stitches and 130,199 third stitches were administered within the last seven days.
