The government of the image.png began this Thursday the works of the Hydraulic Plan on the Martí 2 and Zuviría branches. Its objective is to mitigate flooding in the southern neighborhoods of Flores, Avellaneda Park and Villa Lugano.

The announcement was made by the Buenos Aires Minister of Infrastructure, Pablo Bereciartuaon social networks. As he explained, they are drainage works in the sub-basins of the Cildañez stream. This will mean a benefit for more than 23,500 residents.

In the case of these new works, Bereciartua reported that they will have an extension of 3.8 km. Not just the only ones running. In addition, the official announced that in the coming weeks work will begin on the Larralde and Ciudad de la Paz branches.

What does the City’s Hydraulic Plan consist of?

The City’s Hydraulic Plan began 16 years ago, during the administration of Mauricio Macri. In June 2024, the current head of Government, Jorge Macri, announced sanitation and flood risk reduction works. that will benefit around 850 thousand residents of different neighborhoods.

In addition to the interventions of water risk reduction on the Martí 2 and Zuviría, Larralde and Ciudad de la Paz and Cosa Rica branches, a Comprehensive improvement of the conduction capacity of the Medrano stream and other works and interventions.

One of them is the second stage of the work Sarmiento Park Reservoirin the Saavedra neighborhood. Another is the Baja Costanera collectora sewage conduit to be built with deep tunnels that will cover the entire front of the Río de la Plata from General Paz to Riachuelo.
