An apartment on the first floor was affected, the Linz fire department announced in the evening. Passers-by raised the alarm. Attempts to fight the fire with a hand-held fire extinguisher failed.
When the emergency services arrived, thick smoke was already coming from all the windows. There was no one in the apartment. However, two people had to be treated by the rescue team and taken to hospital.
After just 20 minutes, the professional fire brigade was able to declare that the fire was out and that the fire was limited to the affected apartment on the first floor.
